Eichstätt
Advent flair in the bishop-town.
Eichstätt is a relaxing place to visit in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The Domplatz is the location of the cozy and homey Eichstätt Christmas market. Enjoy Altmühl lamb brats, freshly roasted chestnuts, a cup of homemade apple punch or the local favorite “Heisser Bischof”, a punch made with bitter orange and red wine. Enjoy Christmas stories for the little ones and lots of music – from classical to swing – on the stage of the Christmas barn. In between activities, warm up in front of the bonfire, bake bread on a stick, or stroll to the adjacent, former Johanniskirche where artists and craftsmen invite children to participate in creative activities.
In addition, an ice skating area on Pater-Philipp-Jeningen-Platz, in the immediate vicinity of the romantic Advent market, provides warmth through movement; and the culinary delights are also convincing in the Christmas cathedral city: The Eichstätt hosts of the joint campaign "Eichstätt kocht..." (Eichstätt cooks...) spoil their guests with delicacies suitable for the Advent season and thus support a social cause.
